TYR Sport is proud to announce that three of its athletes — Matt Grevers, Michael McBroom and Jimmy Feigen– have earned bids to the 2015 FINA World Championships in Kazan, Russia. The news follows the athletes’ stellar performances at the 2014 Pan Pacific Championships in Australia on Aug. 21-24.

Team TYR veteran Matt Grevers kicked off preliminaries by shattering the Pan Pac Championship record in the 100m backstroke. He clocked a blazing fast 52.91, beating the previous record of 53.31 set by American Aaron Peirsol in 2010. Grevers went on to win the Silver medal during finals, finishing just .07 seconds behind Japan’s Ryosuke Irie.

The 4X100 medley relay was up next for Grevers, which he swam with Michael Phelps, Nathan Adrian and Kevin Cordes. The fierce foursome notched a 3:29.94, beating out Japan’s 3:32.08, and earning Gold for Team USA.

At Worlds, Grevers is scheduled to swim the 100m back — the same event he won an Olympic Gold medal for in 2012 — as well as the 50m fly.

Team TYR rookie Michael McBroom also guaranteed his spot at Worlds, excelling earlier this month at U.S. Nationals and collecting three top-8 finishes throughout Pan Pacs. The 23 year old is slated to race the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle in Kazan. He will be defending his 800m freestyle Silver medal he won at 2013 Worlds, while looking to add to his collection.

Jimmy Feigen punched Team TYR’s third and final ticket to Worlds, where he will likely swim the 4x100m freestyle relay. The 24 year old already holds an Olympic Silver and a World Silver medal in this event.

The official 2015 FINA World Championship roster will be finalized by USA Swimming on October 1st.
