TYR Sport today announced a two-year partnership with ITU World Triathlon Chicago, which designates the company as the Official Swim Partner of the event in 2014, as well as the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final and World Championships. The partnership grants TYR exclusivity in the categories of technical wear, swimwear and swim accessories.
More than 4,000 athletes are expected to compete at the Chicago event, slated for June 27-29 in Grant Park. TYR Sport will provide all age-group and elite competitors with a participant race bag; they will also provide all athletes in each of the six races with an event-specific swim cap.
Additionally, TYR wetsuits will be available to rent and/or buy at the Chicago race. Running Away Multisport will be on site to facilitate the program, and interested athletes can even contact them prior to the event to secure their wetsuit.
“As an American company, we are honored to be the official swim sponsor for ITU World Triathlon Chicago,” said Matt DiLorenzo, chief executive officer of TYR Sport. “This is the city’s premier ITU race, and we will certainly work hard to make it an unforgettable experience for all participants.”
“After supporting the ITU World Triathlon Series in the U.S. over the past two years, we are thrilled that TYR is now partnering with an even greater scope for Chicago this year and in 2015,” said Chuck Menke, chief marketing officer of USA Triathlon. “We’re proud to align the inaugural ITU World Triathlon Chicago with TYR, a brand that has become universally recognized as the category leader within the sport.”
Chicago will make its debut on the ITU World Triathlon Series circuit later this week, becoming the third-ever U.S. city to host an ITU World Triathlon Series race – joining San Diego (2012 and 2013) and Washington D.C. (2009) – and the first to host the ITU World Triathlon Series Grand Final since the series was founded in 2009. TYR also served as a partner for the past two years in San Diego.
